The Miami Valley Transgender Association

Guidelines of the MVTGA

  1. MVTGA has but one primary purpose – that each transgendered person may experience personal growth, acceptance and affirmation.

  2.  MVTGA is a fellowship of people from anywhere on the transgendered continuum.  Labels are not important.  We accept the sincere transgendered person regardless of race, creed, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression.

  3. The only requirement for attendance is a desire to grow as a transgendered person.

  4. Our meetings are conducted in a circle.  One person is to speak at a time.  We share our experience, strength and hope with each other so that each may grow to wholeness.  No cross talk or interruptions are permitted.

  5. The group’s common welfare comes first.  There is but one ultimate authority – group conscience and consensus. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.

  6. MVTGA is a safe group.  Anonymity and confidentiality are essential.  What is shared in the group, stays in the group.

  7. MVTGA is a support/social group and not a professional or therapeutic group.  However, from time to time MVTGA may invite professionals to share educational information with the group.

  8. MVTGA is autonomous except in matters affecting the greater transgendered community as a whole.

The MVTGA Guidelines are loosely adapted from other 12-Step Group Traditions but are not approved or endorsed by any other group.
